Pharmaceutical packaging and artwork, settled before printing

Primary packaging touches the product: blister and strip packs for tablets and capsules, bottles for syrups and suspensions, tubes for ointments and creams, and vials or ampoules for injectables. Secondary packaging holds it: the carton, the leaflet where one is needed, and the outer shipper.

For each choice we set out the material options, the pack sizes, the cost and the lead time side by side. A cheaper foil or board can save money per unit but add weeks if the manufacturer has to source it specially, and we tell you that before you decide, not after.

Pack size affects your price per unit, how the product sells, and how much packing material the manufacturer has to buy in. We help you match the pack to your market and your quantity, and check that the manufacturer can run it on their packing lines without extra cost.

A pharmaceutical label and carton have to carry mandatory text and declarations. For example:

• The generic name and strength of the product.
• The batch number, and the manufacturing and expiry dates.
• The manufacturer's name, address and licence number, and the marketing company's name and address.
• The price declaration and the storage conditions.
• The warnings required on prescription medicines.

We check each proof against these requirements and against your approved text, and flag anything missing or inconsistent. Where a point needs a regulatory or legal view, we coordinate with licensed professionals.

1. Your text and design brief go to your designer or the manufacturer's artwork team.
2. We check the first proof for mandatory text, spelling, dimensions and consistency with the rest of the pack.
3. Corrections go back until the proof is right.
4. You sign off the final proof.
5. Only then does it go for printing, and we confirm with the manufacturer that the approved version is the one used.
