Why quotes need comparing
Two quotes for the same product can differ because of a different batch size, a cheaper pack, testing left out, or freight added later. We gather quotes from several WHO-GMP and ISO certified manufacturers for your exact specification and lay them side by side so the comparison is fair.
What every manufacturer quotes against
Each manufacturer receives the same written specification, so each quote answers the same question. The specification covers:
- The composition and strength, and the dosage form.
- The batch size, and the manufacturer's minimum order quantity.
- Primary and secondary packing, with the materials and the pack size.
- Testing, and the certificate of analysis that comes with each batch.
- Freight and delivery terms.
- Payment terms, taxes, and how long the quoted price holds.
Comparing like for like
When the quotes come back, we put them on the same basis. If one manufacturer has quoted a smaller batch or a different pack, we ask for a revised figure, or adjust the comparison and show you exactly how. You see the quotes side by side: the price per unit, what is included, the lead time, and anything that still needs checking.
What drives a manufacturing rate
- The active ingredient: its cost moves with the market, and it affects every quote at once.
- Batch size and minimum order quantity: fixed costs are spread over more units in a larger batch.
- Packing material: foil, bottle, carton board and print finish all change the cost per unit.
- Testing: what is tested in the manufacturer's own laboratory and what goes outside.
- Freight: the distance, the weight of the packs and the delivery terms.
Where there is room to negotiate
Not every figure in a quote is fixed. Batch size, packing choices, payment terms and the timing of your order can all move the rate, and giving one manufacturer several products can help too. We tell you where there is room and where there is not, so you know a fair rate when you see one and negotiate from facts.
